She is passionate, supremely talented and sure to be a super star with her incredible designer jewellery range. Cassie makes any old outfit an eye catching ensemble with a gorgeous pop of colour and one of a kind bold designs. Here is a little bit more about her journey in a very creative world.....
Tell us about yourself and what you... My name is Cassie, I'm 28 and from Mount Eliza. I love the satisfaction I get from creating something new and the enjoyment my customers get wearing my pieces. I can't sit still and find being productive with my free time so satisfying!
When did you know you first wanted to be a designer? From a very young age I was always creating, making decorations for family events, drawing, sewing and even sold handmade friendship bracelets to friends in primary school! In high school I made and sold customised hooded jumpers to friends and started my first clothing label 'xeno' at the age of 15.
What inspires you to be creative? I draw a lot of inspiration from street art and my travel experiences. I love exploring Melbourne's lane ways and admiring the ever changing urban gallery. I use photos of street art and images taken on my travels to inspire my designs and the colour combinations that use.
Describe your perfect day... My perfect day would start with a sleep in, I'm definitely not a morning person, a green smoothie and cuddles with my beautiful pup Mia, lunch and wine with my girlfriends, spending the afternoon relaxing on the beach with some chilled tunes and finishing the day with a romantic dinner with my man and watching movies in bed until I drift off to sleep.... or jumping on a plane to Central America!! I think I'm pretty easily pleased :)
What is your best ever creativeе moment? Having a couple of my necklaces featured in the Hawaiian 'DISfunkshion' magazine was a pretty amazing moment!!
Describe a lesson you learnt from creative failure... To design and create what you like and believe in, what comes from the heart, not what you think others will like. I have created clothing in the pas that I thought would sell, it wasn't my usual bright and bold style, and these pieces didn't sell.
What's the scariest movie you have ever seen? Paranormal Activity 2 I think it was...I had nightmares that something was trying to get under the sheets with me!! And anything with scary, creepy children in it like the Grudge.. eeeeekk!!
What's your favourite childhood book? I loved Dr.Seuss books growing up, such creative and abstract stories, and the Hungry Caterpillar is still a favourite!!
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you? That everything happens for a reason, I truly believe it does.
What's your favourite tunes to get you in the creative mood? I love listening to RUFUS, Flume, Chete Faker, 360, Rudimental, Major Lazer, Skrillex, Vancy Joy.... I have such a wide taste in music anything gets me in a creative mood depending on my mood at the time!!
