who are the untold events co crew?

The Untold Events Co was created in 2012 by husband and wife super team Vanessa & Joel Johnson. They live with their 2 cute kids and big brown dog in Somers, Victoria.  For the past decade they have created stunning events in beautiful locations which include Little Beauty Market in Frankston, Stringybark Cinema in Balnarring and Botanika Cinema in Frankston and the brand new McClelland Makers at the iconic McClelland Gallery + Sculpture Park in Langwarrin. In all their spare time (!) they also curate an interest store of curious goods in Main Street, Mornington called Albert & Daphne. If you're a local, pop in and say hi!

when do applications open?

Application opening dates will be listed on our website from June.

Once you have filled in your application successfully you will receive an immediate confirmation on screen saying that your application has been sent. If you don't get this message please double check your image sizes (no bigger than 500KB) as this is often the cause of applications not being successfully submitted.

We will then endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible - nobody likes to be kept waiting but we always make sure we thoroughly research each and every application and this takes time! If you haven't heard from us within two weeks please feel free to contact hello@untoldevents.com.au to follow up.

what is the selection process?

It’s pretty simple – we look at the quality of your products, the appearance of your stall display and how unique you are.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept everyone’s application but that doesn’t mean we don’t like your products - it may just mean that we are currently full in the category you are applying in! Our aim is to provide a diverse market experience for everyone who wonders under the stringybarks.

what is the EPM all about?

The Emu Plains Market is an independent market curated by the crew at Untold Events Co

Each market is created with a festival like atmosphere the Untold crew are famous for with plenty of amazing food, gourmet producers, workshops, fun for the kids, live music and of course...awesome stallholders like you!

When are the markets held?

We are a fully outdoor market and operate rain, hail or shine (hopefully shine!)* typically on the 3rd Saturday of the month from October to April 9am to 2pm. We also have a few very special twilight markets in January - please check website for latest dates and times

*The market will not operate in dangerous weather conditions. More information on cancellations is available in our terms & conditions.

Where is the market located?

Amongst the picturesque stringybark gums of the Emu Plains Reserve, Coolart Road, Balnarring, Victoria.

Being located on the scenic Mornington Peninsula and only one hour from Melbourne’s CBD we share our home with the Balnarring Picnic Racing Club.

who should apply for a stall?

We support crafters, gourmet food producers, vintage collectors, fresh produce farmers and designers*

We do not accept stallholders who DO NOT hand-make/design their own products.

Each stallholder is hand-picked and specifically chosen for their creative style, uniqueness, ethos and fit within the untold events co family.

*Designers who get their products made overseas must only produce items on a small scale and have a close working relationship with the villages/people that make their items (e.g no middle men/wholesalers etc). Please note – only limited sites are available for overseas produced items, our main aim is to support local where possible but we also appreciate and want to support Aussie designers that cannot manufacture in Australia.

are there any site restrictions at emu plains?

We are pretty lucky at the EPM! In most cases you can leave your car onsite behind your stall (as this is an outdoor market, nature can sometimes get in the way so you might not be directly behind your stall but you will be very close!). You are also allowed to peg your marquee into the ground in the majority of sites- no pesky marquee weights! If you are unable to peg a minimum weight of 80kgs per marquee is required. (Marquee weights are required in the gourmet section under the shade sails).

is electricity available?

Power is available in our food and gourmet areas at Emu Plains Market. If power is requested we will approve your location and add $15 to your invoice for usage costs.

will there be an atm?

No, there are no ATMs at the EPM, We encourage visitors to bring cash and it's also a great idea for you to have your own portable payment system (e.g square reader etc) available so that you never, ever miss a sale!

are dogs allowed onsite?

Sorry, but there are strictly no dogs allowed at the Emu Plains Reserve. This also means dogs in cars. This is a condition of our lease with the Emu Plains Reserve.

how much does it cost?

All site fees include Public Liability Insurance (excludes hot food stallholders, entertainment and massage). No equipment is included in the site fee. Stallholders are responsible for their own set up to trade. Marquees are available for hire (if available) for $75.00 and includes set-up, a trestle and 2 chairs.

2024/2025 SITE FEES:

Single site (3m x 3m) = $125

Hot Food/Coffee (3m x 3m) = $185

We also have SEASON PASS rates available at the beginning of every season for stallholders (save $15 per market when paying up front!) Please check our terms and conditions for more information.

Thanks for your interest in an untold event co. market. If you think this all sounds hunky dory we look forward to receiving your application soon!
